Gary Buchanan In 2002, Gary Buchanan founded Buchanan Capital, Inc., an independent investment advisory firm where every decision is based solely on what is in the best interest of the client. Previously, Gary was the Regional Director, Branch Manager and Senior Vice President of D.A. Davidson. Prior to that, he was Manager of Dain Rauscher in Billings. Gary also served as a Senior Financial Consultant at Merrill Lynch where he began his career in the late 1970s. Gary’s background includes extensive civic engagement and statewide public service. He was the first Director of the Montana Department of Commerce and former Chairman of the Montana Banking Board, former Chairman of the Montana Capital Investment Board and former Chairman of the Montana Board of Investments. Video Introduction Email Gary Todd Buchanan Todd Buchanan joined Buchanan Capital, Inc. in 2003. Previously, Todd was an Investment Adviser for Edward Jones and before that an Investment Adviser for D.A. Davidson. After earning a degree from Montana State University, Todd served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nicaragua for two years. An opportunity to serve as Director of ZooMontana brought Todd and his wife, Brooke, back to his hometown of Billings. Todd is deeply committed to Montana, having served on numerous civic and governmental boards at both the local and state level including a 7 year term on the Montana Board of Regents. Todd and Brooke have two children, Thomas and Meredith. The family is grateful to live and work in Montana, enjoying a lifestyle and sense of independence that can only be found in this region. Video Introduction Email Todd Michelle Juntunen Michelle Juntunen joined Buchanan Capital, Inc. in 2014. Michelle graduated from Carroll College with a degree in Political Science and International Relations. She attended the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems and took advanced coursework at Georgetown University where she received a Certificate in Public Policy. Michelle’s professional background crosses federal, state and private sectors. She previously worked for the U.S. Travel Association, a non-profit organization in Washington, DC, and for the Washington State Senate. Before joining the Buchanan Capital team, Michelle worked as an Advertising and Marketing Executive for the Independent Record in Helena. Video Introduction Email Michelle Alice Lahren Alice Lahren joined Buchanan Capital in 2017. Alice earned her MBA from the University of Montana and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School in Bellevue, Washington. She began her career in communications, selling voice and data networks. Later, Alice transitioned to the financial industry focusing on providing technical support for community banks. Throughout her career, Alice has demonstrated a passion for providing the highest level of client service. Video Introduction Email Alice Norma Buchanan Norma Buchanan helped found Buchanan Capital in 2002. Norma began her professional career at National City Bank in Denver, Colorado. From 1980-1984, Norma served as the Social Secretary to Montana’s Governor and First Lady. Norma has also served on numerous boards, including Billings Symphony Associates, Yellowstone Art Museum Associates, Montana Nature Conservancy, ZooMontana, Beartooth Nature Center and a Billings Montessori School. Most recently, Norma served on the board of Montana PBS. While raising her young children, Norma helped the Yellowstone County Attorney on issues related to seatbelt safety. Currently, Norma is the Honorary Director of First Impressions for Buchanan Capital, Inc. She also enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren and working with her horses and menagerie of dogs and cats. Video Introduction Email Norma Mark Howells Mark Howells is the Chief Compliance Officer of MSH Capital Advisors doing business as Buchanan Capital Inc. While working towards a degree in criminal justice, Mr. Howells began a decade-long career as a police officer. He was introduced to the securities industry while working nights on the Phoenix Police Department. In 1981, Mark began his career in the securities industry, forming his own firm in 1987. In 2000, Mark sold his ownership in the firm, and started M.S. Howells & Co., a boutique broker-dealer that services hedge funds and Registered Investment Advisors. Currently, With over 30 years of experience in the securities industry, Mark has extensive knowledge of the high net worth client, market making, corporate finance, options, and the municipal and corporate bond market. In 2008, Mark recognized a need within the industry for quality accounting and administrative services for hedge fund managers. With that, he established PartnersAdmin, LLC to provide comprehensive back office support to hedge fund managers as well as private equity, real estate, and venture capital funds. In addition, Mark spent 15 years as a member of the board of directors at Inventure Foods, Inc. (SNAK) and is responsible for taking the company public. Through his various successes in life he still has the desire to provide for the public through his businesses and philanthropy, where he supports various charities through his foundation. Mark holds a series 7, 24, 53, 79 and 63 securities license.
